The annual Kits Classic beach volleyball tournament began this morning at Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver, BC. The event features 15 courts of volleyball on Saturday and 14 courts on Sunday. Pro players from all over the region travel to Vancouver for this annual tournament in hopes of making it to the final rounds. This event features $2100 in cash prizes for the pro athletes and the competition is fierce.

The action runs from 9am to 6pm each day with 28 pro women’s teams and 32 pro men’s teams competing. On Sunday the top tier final rounds begin at 11:30am.

The tournament also includes an amateur division with 44 men’s and women’s teams. Amateur athletes have the chance to win prizes including Wilson volleyballs, Donnelly gift certificates, movie passes, and more.

As one of the earliest beach volleyball tournaments of the season, many athletes use the Kits Classic as a warm-up event to hone their skills in a lead-up to Volleyball BC’s premiere pro beach volleyball event, the ClearlyContacts.ca Open.
