VBC PRO TOUR IS BACK! SEASON 2 PREVIEW OF BC’s HOTTEST BEACH VOLLEYBALL EVENTS.

Set the dates, mark your calendars, lock-in your partners, Season 2 of the Volleyball BC Pro Beach Volleyball Tour is coming! This summer 2017  pro beach volleyball athletes in British Columbia will be competing for both individual event titles and for the overall Tour Championship title!

VBC Pro Beach Tour features five signature events from May through July where pro athletes will be competing at BC’s most popular beaches. The VBC Pro Tour boasts Canada’s largest cash prizing for beach volleyball at a total of $25,000 over five events. Each event offers its own cash prizing, where tour points are awarded to each athlete based on their tournament finishes. The Volleyball BC Pro Tour Champion Title is awarded at the last event (Vancouver Open) to a male and female pro athlete who has both competed in all five tour events and has the highest accumulated amount of tour points.

 

 

 

 

 

Season 1 saw a total of 125 male and 130 female athletes compete in the Pro division, where in the last two tour stops matched up a tight two-man and three-woman race in the running for Tour Champion. When it was all said and done, one male and female was left standing with a VBC giant cheque, crowning Dave ‘Bad Boy’ Beleznay and Rachelle Thomas ultimately as 2016 Tour Champions!

List of Volleyball BC Pro Tour Events:

#1 Kits Classic: May 27-28 ($2,500)

VBC Pro Tour’s first event. One of BC’s longest running 2-on-2 beach volleyball tournaments taking place at Kits beach every May.  A well-known training grounds for beach volleyball lovers such as the KBVA (Kits Beach Volleyball Association).

#2 Jim Clive Cup: June 10-11 ($2,500)

The tournament that honours the man, the myth, the legend – Jimmy Clive. Widely known as one of the forefathers of bringing beach volleyball to the Vancouver scene, the Jim Clive Cup is the second stop for the VBC Pro Tour.

#3 Parksville Pro: June 17-18 ($2,500)

The former host site for Volleyball Canada Beach Nationals, the Parksville Pro is the third stop on the VBC Pro tour. Parksville Beach is the perfect destination for the Pro Beach Tour as it has a dedicated beach volleyball park with man-made sand and plenty of room for spectators.

#4 Kelowna Pro: July 1-2 ($2,500)

Formerly the Penticton Pro, the fourth stop in the VBC Pro Tour takes place in the Okanagan region at Kelowna City Park. Athletes and crowds will be celebrating both the Canada Day weekend and exciting beach volleyball action in the Kelowna warm sun.

#5 Vancouver Open: July 15-17 ($15,000)

The summer’s most popular pro beach volleyball event in Vancouver and the final stop of the Pro Tour. Offering the largest pro beach volleyball prize purse in Canada, the 26th annual event attracts international attention and competition while featuring outdoor music, a beverage garden, multiple vendor booths and contests for all spectators at famous kits beach. This tournament also offers a 14U & 16U division.

About the Volleyball BC Pro Beach Volleyball Tour

The Volleyball BC Pro Beach Tour features pro volleyball athletes competing in five signature events from May to July in three regions of British Columbia with a total prize purse of $25,000.

Volleyball BC Pro Beach Tour teams will be competing for individual event titles and for a tour championship title. At the final event of the season (Vancouver Open), Men’s and Women’s Volleyball BC Pro Tour Champions will be crowned and $1,000 will be awarded to the Men’s and Women’s Champions. To win the Pro Tour Championship title, a player must have competed in all five tour events and have the highest accumulated points total based on their finishes in each of the five events.

Volleyball BC Pro Beach Tour events will take place in Vancouver, Parksville, and Kelowna and will feature 64 teams in the main draw (32 Men’s and 32 Women’s). The events will take place over two days (Saturday and Sunday) with the exception of the Vancouver Open Pro which will include a qualifying tournament on the Friday before.
