Resources

Volleyball BC’s Adult Skills Clinics offer focused, 7 and 8-week programs for adults of all experience levels—whether you’re new to the game, working on developing consistency, or ready to sharpen advanced techniques. Our clinics are designed to help participants progress in a supportive and structured environment, led by experienced coaches who are dedicated to building your skills and confidence on the court.

Each weekly session is 2 hours long, combining 1 hour and 15 minutes of skill-specific practice with 45 minutes of game play to apply what you’ve learned. Clinics are divided into beginner, and intermediate/advanced levels to ensure everyone has the best opportunity to learn at their own pace.

Skills Covered by Level:

  • Beginner: Foundational skills like forearm passing, setting, underhand serving, and basic hitting and blocking techniques.
  • Intermediate: Development of overhand serving, advanced passing and setting techniques, as well as positioning and transitions for defensive plays.
  • Advanced: Specialized skills such as jump serving, quick setting, reading the block, advanced defensive strategies, and team-based play strategies.

No matter your level, you’ll gain essential cues, tips, and guidance in each skill, making these clinics the perfect place to grow and reach new volleyball goals.

Join us to experience high-quality instruction, build new skills each week, and enjoy the thrill of progress in volleyball!

Beginner
This level is perfect for adults with little to no volleyball experience or formal team play background. Our Beginner clinics offer a fun and supportive environment focused on building confidence and core volleyball fundamentals. The goal is to help participants establish consistency in basic skills necessary to sustain meaningful rallies, such as passing, setting, and serving. Participants may find themselves training at this level for several seasons to develop a solid foundation.

  • Focus: Developing comfort with movement and first-contact skills.
  • Skills: High-volume practice in forearm passing, overhead setting, spiking mechanics, and serving. Participants will begin working on team gameplay basics.

Intermediate
Ideal for “Rally Ready” players, our Intermediate level is designed for those who can reliably pass, set, and hit in a controlled environment. At this stage, participants build upon foundational skills and work on integrating their abilities within a team setting, often training in positions and roles on the court. This level also introduces more challenging defensive and offensive play to develop responsiveness in game scenarios.

  • Focus: Enhancing consistency across rallies, building confidence in positioning, and responding to faster plays.
  • Skills: Advanced passing, setting, blocking, and digging, with a focus on positioning, team roles, and multi-contact rallies.

Advanced
Our Advanced clinics are intended for adults with previous competitive experience, such as high school or recreational league play, and a solid foundation in volleyball skills. Participants at this level should be comfortable with faster-paced rallies, challenging serves, and spikes. This level emphasizes refining individual and team strategies for competitive gameplay.

  • Focus: Fine-tuning advanced techniques, developing positional strategies, and executing systems in a competitive setting.
  • Skills: High-repetition practice with a focus on advanced serving, blocking, and defensive and offensive strategies for sustained, fast-paced rallies.
