BEACH | GRASS OUTDOOR SKILLS CLINICS
Join our 7-8 week evening beach volleyball clinics, running from 6:30 pm to sundown. Each weekly session is approximately 2 hours long, combining 1 hour and 15 minutes of skill-specific practice with 45 minutes of game play to apply what you’ve learned. With three skill levels available, we have something for everyone:
Whether you’re new to the game or looking to refine your skills, our beach clinics provide expert coaching and a fun, supportive environment to improve your play.
This level is designed for adults who are new to volleyball or have little experience playing in a structured setting. Our Beginner clinics create an engaging and encouraging space where players can build confidence while learning essential volleyball skills. The primary focus is on developing consistency in key techniques—such as passing, setting, and serving—that help sustain rallies. Many participants spend multiple sessions at this level to strengthen their fundamentals before advancing.
Emphasis: Gaining comfort with movement, ball control, and first-contact skills.
Key Skills: High-repetition training in forearm passing, overhead setting, serving, and basic spiking form. Players will also be introduced to team play concepts.
This level is suited for players who can consistently execute basic volleyball skills and are ready to refine their technique in a more dynamic environment. Participants will build on their foundational abilities while learning to apply them in team play, including structured positioning and court awareness. Training at this stage incorporates faster-paced rallies and introduces strategic elements of offense and defense.
Emphasis: Improving consistency in game situations, reinforcing positioning, and adapting to quicker plays.
Key Skills: Progressive work on passing, setting, blocking, and defensive movement, with a stronger focus on team coordination and multi-contact plays.
For players with previous experience—such as competitive high school, club, or league play—this level sharpens technical skills and tactical understanding. Participants should be comfortable with fast rallies, challenging serves, and dynamic net play. Sessions will focus on fine-tuning advanced techniques, implementing strategic systems, and preparing for high-intensity competition.
Emphasis: Mastering advanced techniques, positional strategies, and coordinated team execution in game scenarios.
Key Skills: High-volume reps in serving, blocking, and defensive/offensive systems, with an emphasis on quick decision-making and sustained, high-speed rallies.
How to use: For each skill, pick the description that most matches your current ability. Count your successes during practice or casual play.

What are skill clinics, and how do they differ from regular league play?
Skill clinics are designed to help players enhance their techniques for use in real game situations. Unlike regular league play, these clinics focus on refining key volleyball skills—such as passing, setting, hitting, and serving—that players can apply directly during competitive gameplay.
What should I expect during the clinic? Will there be a mix of drills, scrimmages, and coaching?
Clinics are held over several weeks, with each session focusing on different volleyball skills. Expect a combination of skill-building exercises, drills to reinforce those skills, and opportunities to apply them in game situations through scrimmages.
Can I sign up for a clinic if I have no prior experience with volleyball?
Absolutely! Our beginner skill clinics are designed specifically for individuals with little to no experience. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a supportive environment.
Are the clinics suitable for all skill levels?
Yes, Volleyball BC offers skill clinics for both beginners and advanced players. Beginner clinics are ideal for individuals with little to no volleyball experience who are looking to learn the basics and develop a strong foundation in the sport. Advanced clinics cater to players who are already familiar with the game and wish to refine their skills and learn more complex techniques.
How long is each clinic session?
Each clinic session is 2 hours.
How do I register for a skill clinic?
Individuals can register for a skill clinic through the Volleyball BC website. Simply visit the following link to access the registration portal: https://volleyballbc.org/play/adult/outdoor/clinics/ and complete the registration process via Sportlomo.
