With over 20 years of leadership experience in non-profit and community organizations, Emma Gibbons is a results-driven executive dedicated to fostering inclusive and healthy communities. As the Chief Executive Officer of Volleyball BC, she manages strategic growth, financial sustainability, and impactful programs that drive engagement and inclusion. Emma is a champion of using sport as a vehicle for social impact. Under her leadership, Volleyball BC has introduced key initiatives, including its first-ever Safe Sport Action Plan, Mental Health Toolkit, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy, prioritizing volleyball as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all participants. In 2024, the organisation was presented with the Province of British Columbia’s Delivering on Diversity Award in recognition of this work.

Prior to Volleyball BC, Emma served as Executive Director of the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club, where she successfully united four separate organizations under one governance model, fostering collaboration and sustainability. Emma also contributed to the success of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as the Director of the CEO Office and in senior roles managing stakeholder relations and dignitary programs.
A community leader and advocate, Emma currently serves as President of the North Shore Girls Soccer Club, where she continues to champion opportunities for young women to access sport, develop leadership skills, and stay active for life. She is a member of viaSport’s Safe Sport Working Group and Sport BC’s Advocacy Working Group. Originally from the UK, Emma now resides in North Vancouver where she spends her spare time chauffeuring her three children to multiple sport activities.
