Provincial Facilities Development Fund

Facility access is one of the key drivers for growth and development of volleyball across British Columbia.  Volleyball BC (VBC) is excited to introduce a new fund to encourage and support initiatives that increase the availability of facilities for volleyball.

The Provincial Facility Development Fund (PFDF) is a restricted fund set up by Volleyball BC’s Board to support the long-term development, acquisition, or lease of facilities for volleyball programming in the province. Applications will be reviewed by a dedicated Committee and approved by the Board.

WHAT IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Funds can be used for facility enhancement, volleyball equipment, and/or any other purpose related to ensuring that volleyball can be played at the facility.
  • Funds are available for the support of indoor or outdoor volleyball facilities.
  • A facility’s primary purpose may not solely be volleyball, however any PFDF funds must be used specifically to support access for volleyball.
  • A facility may be owned and operated by a third party or may propose a more involved role for VBC. The operator must be willing to enter into an agreement that ensures VBC (and/or its members) have access to the space for the purposes of programming or events and that there is improved and guaranteed access to volleyball activities over the long-term.
  • Facility must be “shovel-ready” with full approvals, in construction-phase, or already in operation but without the current capacity to deliver volleyball.
  • A facility must have a minimum of 4 courts (indoor) or 4 courts (outdoor). Courts do not need to be in the same gym but must be at the same location. Courts must adhere to VBC dimensions and specifications for competition or training requirements.  Special consideration may be given to facilities with fewer courts in locations of need.
  • A facility must be at a location with high volleyball demand and low access to facility. Consideration may be given to geographic spread of successful applications.
