Team BC FAQ

Volleyball BC Team BC Programs work to identify, train and develop athletes with high performance potential and coaches who aspire to represent Canada internationally. Team BC programs provide a pathway for athletes and coaches to reach elite levels within the sport of indoor and beach volleyball.

Team BC Indoor Pathway has programs for athletes aged 14-18U. Please visit each program-specific page for more information.

Team BC Beach Pathway has programs for athletes aged 16-24U. Please visit each program-specific page for more information.

Team BC Red & Blue (Formerly 16U) and Team BC Select Program (Formerly Team BC 18U) have been renamed to follow LTAD principles published by the Canadian Sport for Life Group. Teams will be selected by athlete developmental level rather than age categories. For further information on LTAD principles and the Canadian Sport for Life Group, please visit https://www.volleyball.ca/en/about/ltad

Athletes must follow the program specific selection process in order to be considered for participation with the program. All selection information can be found on each program’s web page, found listed on the Team BC menu.

The selection process for most programs requires athletes to attend a selection camp. All selection camp registration is done through the Volleyball BC Registration Website (called Sportlomo).

In order to be considered for selection to a Team BC program, athletes need to attend their respective selection camp.

However, we understand that life happens and sometimes things are out of our control. Depending on the program, there are a few different options that may be available.

16U: Athletes who cannot attend a selection camp for 16U can attend a selection camp in another region on a different weekend.

15U: Athletes who cannot attend the Team BC Zone Program or Team BC Select Open Selection Camp may be eligible to complete an external application. Please email td@volleyballbc.org for consideration.

Not for the same program, no. Athletes can only attend one selection camp per Team BC program. Athletes will not be considered for a Team BC program if they attend multiple selection camps in multiple regions to “increase their chances” to be selected to a Team BC program.

For example, as a 16U athlete, you cannot attend the selection camp in the Lower Mainland AND the Okanagan. You must choose one.

Yes. Athletes are permitted to attend selection camps for different ages.

For example, a 15U athlete can attend a selection camp for their 15U zone program, but also attend a selection camp for 16U. However, it is important to communicate this ahead of time to ensure that coaches can plan accordingly.
